Housing Whitefish Selects Architect for First Project

After a competitive request for proposal process, Housing Whitefish Inc. has selected Cushing Terrell to design their first project. The project is located at 530 Edgewood Place in Whitefish and is the second phase of the Alpenglow development. The first phase was completed in 2021 by Homeword and the Whitefish Housing Authority and consists of 38 rental units. Phase 2 is situated on a .61-acre site behind Piggyback BBQ and is intended to house low to moderate income earners. The organization hopes to build between 16-24 rental units on the site.

Executive Director of Housing Whitefish, Daniel Sidder, said “We’re excited to get Phase 2 of this project underway. Cushing Terrell has a long history of partnering with affordable housing organizations and we’re confident that their experience will translate into high quality, sustainable, and affordable housing.”

Cushing Terrell’s interest in affordable housing comes from the desire to create authentic places for people, neighborhoods that are pedestrian friendly and prioritize green space and recreation areas. They want to help create affordable places for all types of people to call home.

Founded in 2022, Housing Whitefish works to advocate, create, and plan for a sustainable supply of housing that everyone in our community can afford. Along with developing Phase 2 of the Alpenglow project, Housing Whitefish is working to develop a Workforce Housing Fund to assist cost-burdened renters that work in Whitefish.
